KDS Mastery: The Dedicated Kitchen Mode

By Marc Andre • April 25, 2026

Optimized for the Line

The heat of a professional kitchen is no place for a delicate consumer app. Our Kitchen Display System (KDS) Mode is a ruggedized, high-contrast interface designed specifically for wall-mounted touchscreens. It features large interactive targets, "chime" audio alerts, and a color-coded ticket system that evolves as prep-time elapses.

When an order is received, it enters the "Incoming" state. As the chef taps the ticket, it moves to "In Progress," updating the Staff Dashboard and the Guest Menu status in real-time. This loop ensures everyone—from the dishwasher to the guest—is in perfect sync.

Ticket Aging and Urgency

Every digital ticket has a "heartbeat." If a ticket exceeds your venue's target prep-time (e.g., 15 minutes), the header begins to pulse amber, then red. This visual cue allows the head chef to identify bottlenecks before they lead to negative guest experiences.

TIP

Digital KDS systems reduce order errors by 40% compared to traditional paper tickets.

Station-Based Filtering

A large venue might have separate stations for Cold Prep, Grill, and Pastry. Our KDS allows you to filter tickets so each station only sees what it needs to cook, reducing kitchen noise and improving focus.

  • Visual Pulse Timers: Instant awareness of order aging.
  • Interactive Prep Stages: "Incoming" -> "In Progress" -> "Ready" -> "Served".
  • Bulk Done: Clear multiple items with a single gesture.
  • History Recall: Easily pull back accidentally cleared tickets.
